were purchased from the United Kingdom, designated Helicopter Type
1.
Helicopter Type 1A (Sikorsky
Yr-6A)
(1951 - 1954)
A Sikorsky YR-5A helicopter was purchased from
the United States, designated Helicopter Type 1A.
Helicopter Type 2A (Hiller
UH-12B Raven)
(1953 - 1962)
Four Hiller UH-12B Raven helicopters were purhased
from the United States at a cost of US$ 40,774 each, and named Helicopter
Type 2A.
Helicopter Type 3 (Sikorsky
H-19A Chichasaw)
(1954 - 1965)
Six Sikorsky H-19A Chickasaw helicopters were
purchased from the United States at a cost of US$ 152,150 each, designated
Helicopter Type 3.
Helicopter Type 4 (Sikorsky
H-34 Choctaw)
(1962 - 1976)
Thirteen Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw helicopters
were received from the United States, designated Helicopter Type 4.
Fifty-two more of this type were acquired during 1963-1969. The Royal
Thai Air Force modified two H-34s for Royal Flight, one in 1964 and
the other in 1966. These were the first two Royal Flight helicopters.
Helicopter Type 4A (Sikorsky
S-58T)
(1979 - 1999)
The Thai Am Company was contracted by the Royal
Thai Air Force to modify eighteen Type 4 helicopters, from piston
engine to gas turbine (Sikorsky S-58T). The first helicopter was completed
in April 1978 and subsequently transferred to the Royal Thai Air Force
on January 24, 1979, and given the name Helicopter Type 4A.
Helicopter Type 5 (Kaman
H-43B Huskie)
(1962 - 1971)
Four Kaman H-43B Huskie helicopters were received
from the United States, designated Helicopter Type 5.
Helicopter Type 6 (Bell UH-1H
Iroquois)
(1968)
The United States provide four Bell UH-1H helicopters
to the Royal Thai Air Force, designated Helicopter Type 6. Later,
twenty-one more were provided, two of which were used for the Royal
Flight.

The Royal Thai Air Force procured three Bell
412 helicopters from the United States for Royal Flight, designated
Helicopter Type 6B.
Helicopter Type 6C (Bell
412SP)

The Royal Thai Air Force procured three Bell
412 SP helicopters from the United States, two of which served as
Royal Flight and the other as a spare, designated Helicopter Type
6C.
Helicopter Type 6D (Bell

Four Bell 412EPs were purchased from Canada,
designated helicopter Type 6D.

Mapping Helicopter Type 1
(Bell 206B Jet Ranger)

The Royal Thai Survey Department, Supreme Command
Headquarters turned over Bell 206 B Jet Ranger helicopter, No.872,
to the Royal Thai Air Force, designated Mapping Helicopter Type 1.
Later it was transferred to Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives
in exchange for an S-58T helicopter.
Mapping Helicopter Type 2
(Kawasaki KH-4)
(1982 - 1985)
One Kawasaki KH-4 helicopter, No.2042, designated
Mapping Helicopter Type 2.
Helicopter Type 8 (Bell 206B-3
Jet Ranger III)
( 1996)
The Royal Thai Air Force purchased five Bell
206B-3 Jet Ranger IIIs from Canada, designated Helicopter Type 8.
Later, another one was bought.
Helicopter Type 9 (Eurocopter
AS-332L-2 Super Puma II)
(1996 - 2003)
Three Super Puma IIs were procured from France
for Royal Flight. The first two helicopters were shipped to Thailand
on October 26, 1996; the remaining arrived on December 25, 1996. They
were designated Helicopter Type 9.
